Kennedy St CiC
Our mission is to make recovery visible, transformation accessible and relevant to everyone’s lives. Our purpose is to help those choosing recovery and transformation, to achieve their GREATEST potential.
Kennedy St CiC is a not for profit organisation based in Hove, but operating throughout East Sussex. It is open to anyone who is interested in any aspect of recovery; alcohol, drugs or any other addiction problem. We have developed a range of support networks to help individuals maintain their recovery, as well as organised community based opportunities such as: volunteering, enterprises, training and our successful Community Connections, which helps reduce the stigma attached to those affected by addiction.
Who is a social entrepreneur?
“A person who establishes an enterprise with the aim of solving social problems or effecting social change.”
Social enterprises are businesses that have a social or environmental mission and generate income through trading goods and services. Rather than profits going to shareholders, they reinvest their profits into furthering their mission. The Big Issue, the Eden Project, Jamie Oliver’s restaurant Fifteen and Divine Chocolate are all successful examples.
Our belief is that everyone can become a ‘Change Maker’; to shine their light on someone else’s path. For many of us, substance misuse and mental health issues have had a significant impact on our lives, others have been overwhelmed with life’s challenges.
Whatever road they have been walking down, ultimately, they have now decided to engage on a journey of recovery & transformation.
The Kennedy St CiC Community Connections programme
Kennedy St CiC is proud to present a carefully designed ‘Community Connections’ programme; a training programme for our future social entrepreneurs and a starting point for learning to live a bold, new life.
The programme helps individuals develop their ideas & plans into a sustainable social enterprise concept, with a clear vision for creating social impact.
Our learning framework does not require academic studies or essay writing; we believe in learning from people’s experiences.
Guest speaker social entrepreneurs will offer their own experience, guidance, discuss their reasons for choosing this career path, & the perks, pitfalls and gifts of becoming a ‘Change Maker’.
We also offer 1-2-1 coaching & mentoring through our network of support peers; experienced professionals who can guide attendees through their social enterprise start up journey.
